Our ethos

Our Christian ethos

New Dawn was founded by local Christians, and our Christian ethos — care, hope and patient listening — still shapes everything we do. Here's what that means for you.

Our foundation

Faith at our foundation, professional in practice

Many of our counsellors are Christians, and the whole team, of every background, shares a simple conviction: that every person is precious and deserves to be listened to with compassion, hope and dignity. That conviction shapes the warmth you'll feel here — alongside the professional standards you'd expect of qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

The door is open to everyone — with faith and none. Whatever you believe, you'll receive the same warm welcome and the same professional care.

Where we come from

Rooted in faith, shown in care

The centre was founded in 2002 by local Christians who believed that everyone deserves to be listened to with care — and that nobody should miss out on counselling because of money. That belief built this place, and it still shapes everything we do — including the bursary fund.

Those roots show up as warmth: a kind welcome, patient listening, hope held for you when it's hard to hold your own, and respect for every person who walks through the door.

How we work

Many ways of working, one welcome

Our counsellors and psychotherapists bring a range of therapeutic approaches — integrative, humanistic, Gestalt, CBT, creative ways of working and more. Whoever you see, your counselling is shaped around you: your story, your needs, your pace.

If faith matters to you

We'll meet you where you are

For some people, faith or spiritual questions are part of what they're working through — doubt, grief, guilt, meaning, or something harder to name. If you want to explore that in your counselling, your counsellor will meet you there, respectfully and at your pace.

Our aim is simple: to meet people emotionally, psychologically and spiritually at their point of need. If faith never comes up in your sessions, that's completely fine too. This is your space, and you set the direction.

Come as you are. You'll be welcome.

Whoever you are, we're listening

Whatever you believe and whatever you're carrying, you'll find a warm welcome and a professional ear here. Take the first step when you're ready.
